Mark Flagler captures photographs of Aurora Borealis on the island of Ireland

Mark Flagler captures photographs of the Aurora Boralis on the island of Ireland. On May 11, 2024 the Aurora Borealis lite up the nighttime sky across the most of the island. Mark captured a few photographs from his back garden in Celbridge, Co. Kildare shortly after midnight. The vibrate light display was right overhead.

The next day Mark ventured up to Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland hoping to capture the Aurora Borealis. The northern lights were not as vivid or vibrate as 24 hours earlier but the nighttime sky still displayed remarkable colours. On a few instances, you can see the pink and purple rays of light radiating down towards the ocean. Absolutely amazing!

Mark also captured a time-lapse of the nighttime sky at Dunluce Castle. The combination of the moon, stars and colours moving above the castle looks incredible. I’m delighted that Tourism Ireland has commissioned the rights to use the time-lapse video and some of my photographs. It was a special 36 hours of witnessing the Aurora Borealis and capturing some photographs of this bucket list event.
