Saoirse Climbing Lugnaquilla for Fields of Life

My name is Saoirse and I live in Celbridge, Co.Kildare, in Ireland. I am 10 almost 11 years old. I am fundraising for a charity called Fields of Life.

The money I raise will help provide clean water, proper sanitation and hygiene for children in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, the Congo and South Sudan in East Africa. Imagine if you were a child in these countries, you would have to walk for miles to get water and when you get there the water is filthy, and can make you sick and all we have to do is go over to a tap and we have clean water. I hope to raise enough money to build three hand washing stations so children in school can wash their hands before they eat their lunch and don’t get sick from filthy water. To raise money I will climb Lugnaquilla, the highest mountain in Leinster at 3,035ft or 925m. The climb is 15km or 9.5 miles and takes about 6 hours. My plan is to climb Lugnaquilla in April 2019. I’m very excited and nervous, this will be one of the most challenging things I will ever do, but in the end it will be worth helping these children. I will post videos and pictures of me training in the mountains and doing long walks with my mom, dad, family and friends. So please donate a little bit of money to help them if you can, and if you can’t please share this information with friends and family. Even the smallest donation will help save lives.
